When I installed Windows 7 (replaced Windows 8 which came installed), I downloaded all the dell drivers from the website for my service tag and installed them in the order suggested ( ). Hardware acceleration is disabled by windows (ie when I load up a windows game like solitaire, I receive a message telling me so) When I do this, the display adapter appears more generic, is shows something like "AMD Radeon 7500/7600" and the version # is 12.xxĭespite installing Catalyst Control Center and this new driver, it doesn't appear to work - hardware acceleration is disabled, though it does not have the restarting issue with this version.Ĭurrently, windows is treating it as a generic resource, driver version. I put in the video card details on the AMD website and was prompted to download and install: 13-4_mobility_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql I can confirm that it is something to do with this, as when I remove the drivers and uninstall it, the issue stops (and same, in safe mode there is no restarting as it doesn't load the driver) When I install this version, the display adapter in the Device manager appears to be ok, however this is when the system starts to restart unexpectedly, usually about 2-3 minutes after I log in to windows. This installs the driver version 8.951.9.0 and the display adapter shows as "AMD Radeon HD 7570m" in the device manager. I have downloaded and installed the video driver package from Dell System: Inspiron 5423 (brand new machine)
